No, not McDonalds. Not in a million years. I refuse to ingest food that gives off a scent mildly reminiscent of garbage. Truly, ever smell your car the next day after a McDonalds run? Just like garbage. Which is saying something, don’t you think? “Uh..hmmm..did you get a new car freshener? Garbage scent perhaps? No. That’s just my McDonalds.”
Anyway…this is NOT a Mcdonalds rant. I’m actually lovin’ something here!
What I’m lovin’ today is Anti-Factory, a brand spanking new shop on Etsy (opened July 1st) featuring 100% recycled quality vintage fabrics (lambswool, angora, cashmere, cottons), “salvaged” new fabrics (fabric overruns discarded from factory manufacturing) and vintage trims and buttons. Anti-Factory has been around since 2004, selling online and in boutiques across the country. Good thing she landed on Etsy, or I’d still be in the dark.
The clothing here I find is a perfect blend of new and old, masterfully combining modern lines and color schemes with adorable trim and vintage fabrics. This blend is something I strive for in my own designs, and I think Anti-Factory captures it all too well.
Something else I dig about Anti-Factory is the recycled nature of the clothing, as eco-friendliness is something I strongly support and live by. Not to mention the added touch of each item being personally designed and sewn by the artist herself, a concept I find wonderfully human. Just one more reason to support indie designers.
Lovin’ it!
